Dear Dr. Bruno:
I have done my best @ home scanning these precious photos.
Please let your readers know that these photos are “40+ years old” and withstood the ravage of time. In fact 1965 photo looks better than the 1967.
We started our First MBBS in St. Xavier’s College thus we missed girls in our 1965 photo, they studied in Sara Tucker College. From 1966 onwards we became co-educated at our current location and appeared together ever since.
Please acknowledge my name in your web pages under these photos because my living classmates and faculties may wonder who in the world preserved all these photos. They will certainly travel through their memory lanes if they come across your pages.
My name was K.M. Abdulkader, wears a bow tie 3rd from left, second row from top in 1965 photo. I am at 6th from the left, second row from the top in 1967 photo.

This is Dr.Kulam again.
During early years of our live in the men's hostel the water we were drinking from the tap was of a hard variety, with too much mineral contents I guess. Within few months of our moving into the hostel almost every one of us went through what we call an "acute urinary irritation", a severe pain during micturition.
Soon we all learned, of course by trial and error, the best way to relive the symptom is to drink more of the same hard water which caused our symptoms. But when we drank more until we can not consume any more, it diuressed the heck out of our water balance and soon we will be relieved of our symptoms with in few hours.

It is nice to hear from Dr Kulam. I also belong to first batch.durig our 1st year at TVMC(2nd yr MBBS)my room mate was Dr.Kulam,along with Subramania Pillai. Most students did not have radio.No TV in the country, of course. Luckily our room mate Dr.Pillai had a transistor.We listened to his radio when Armstrong landed in ihe moon.

A message from an alumnus of the First Batch of our College
They called me "KULAM" then, year was 1965. Mr.Bakthavachalam of Congress Party was our Chief Minister, soon taken over by Mr.C.N. Annadurai of DMK.
I am Abdulkader Kulam, I belong to the first bactch of TVMC medical students, started our Ist MBBS in St.Xaviers College, Palayamkottai. It was Madras State then, we graduated under the University of Madras.
I am close to 60 years now, practicing in USA as an Anesthesiologist since I moved here to Chicago in 1976, just 4 years after my house surgency and stayed here ever since.
I passed my ECFMG in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in in 1975
In my treasure is a group photo of our very First MBBS 1965-1966 of Tirunelveli Medical College. I would love to publish it in your web pages of TVMC Alumni. Right now the picture is in pristine condition but I am afraid eventually nature will deteriorate it if I don't do something. I will try my best to upload the picture from here once if I can digitalize it.
If it fails I would like one of our Nellai Medico friends to come forward to takeover the charge. I will send it to you as long as you promise me to return it to me.
That was really a surprise for me

TVMC logo, infact was contributed by our first batch of students. The grain over the medical symbol represents the rice in Thiru-NEL-veli.
We were also in part resposible for choosing the motto - "Duty, Dignity, Discipline" under the symbol. It was nothing but the copy of the mission statement of then popular party DMK. (kadami, kanniyam, kattupadu).
Had we had the fortitude and wisdom of current time, we would have choosen something diffrent reflecting our service to humanity and helping the sick and love of our learning. Going after a then popular political motto was not the best choice,as seems now, of course we were young, naieve and vulnarable then.

A Reunion Cake was cut and distributed, lunch arranged from Hotel Aryaas and we spent the time chatting and seeing the old photos as well as the photos taken after graduation.
Coming to the formal part, it has been decided to conduct the next Reunion on May 9th 2009 (Second Saturday) and May 10th 2009 (Sunday)
- Day 1 : May 9th 2009 (Second Saturday)
- 9 AM : A formal Function to be presided by the Dean and inviting ALL Our Professors and others who taught us at the Tirunelveli Medical College Auditorium
- 1 PM : Lunch
- 2 PM : Games
- 5 PM : Starting Off to Thenmala (Kerala)
- 9 PM : Campfire at Resort
- Day 2 : May 10th 2009 (Sunday)
- An one day trip for Sightseeing
- 6PM - Returning Back to Tirunelveli
Well the date has been announced 874 days, 124 weeks, and 25 months in advance. So no excuses for not coming next time !!!!.

Sir, I am antony smith my brother has completed +2 this year, he has written the exams good and it is expected min. PCB-185/200 mark and he comes under (PH) special category reservation seat for MBBS.I have searched the internet a lot, but i couldnt able to find the marks statistics about the special category students MBBS admission.

I know about the difficulties in arranging for a function faced by MMC. Funding was the main problem. - This is a comprehensive guide for paediatric university practical examination (For undergraduates and postgraduates). There are many books in the market that is useful for the exam in paediatrics. Scott's Pedia-TRICKS stands unique in that the author specifically says that it is “Written by the students, For the students”. After going through the book it is felt in every page. The book has maintained its style throughout.
- This book includes detailed history taking of all the pediatric exam cases for undergraduates and postgraduates. This also gives an elaborate discussion of all cases, topic wise with the common questions asked during the presentation. Difficult topics like paraplegia in children, neurodegenerative disorder, and hepatosplenomegaly - approach are all written in a different and practical way.
- There is a detailed discussion for developmental assessment and also a separate “Newborn” chapter including all the short cases and spotters of neonatology. Elaborate chapter on “Tuberculosis” whatever a student need from exam point of view is also available in this book.
- The second part of book includes whatever needed for the orals which is, exam x-rays with detailed legends, vaccines related questions with answers, instruments and drugs kept in orals, description of procedures asked in the exam, questions asked in the nutrition/emergency viva voce, lists of nutrition items kept for orals and their nutritive values and also the separate chapter on social programmes.
- The list of long, short cases and spotters (both for UGs/PGs) with list of pathology slides and specimens kept for pediatric exams is definitely of very useful for students.
- The university theory question bank for PGs and UGs and separate chapter on psychological preparation for a pediatric clinical exam will be definitely appreciated by all the students
- Above all the author has also declared that the profit from the book is meant for the benefit of poor children, which makes the purpose very noble than just commercial and business.
- One of the main advantages of this book is that is packed with information, which has been presented in points, so that it can be easily remembered by both undergraduate/post graduate students and also the way of presentation is like somebody teaching with timely jokes makes one to read without boring and easy to remember.
- This book is a good ready reference for postgraduates and undergraduates of pediatrics.

My name is Joseph Kamalesh and i am a student and avid fan of the great Julius Scott. I had a very small and inconspiquous part to play in the creation of " Scott's Peadiatrics" and it gives me great satisfaction to see the name of the book spreading far and wide. We at CMC are extremely fortunate to have such a great teacher among us but whatever said and done the cheers to TVMC to have produced such a personality . May his book proclaim "Paediatrics" far and wide and may his exemplory skills produce more and more books of the same calibre to benefit students all around the globe. All the best sir.

| 96 Batch - 2006 Meet - Preliminary Meeting Details
|
Larif, myself, Sudagar, Karthi met at our Good Old CRRI Quarters on 15th October Evening and then had Dinner at Hotel Aryaas. Karthi had just come to Nellai after his practical exams on 13th by Guruvayoor Express that evening.
We have decided to
- Collect Contact details of all the batchmates
- To inform them that we are conducting a reunion at TvMC Auditorium
(24/12/2006)17/12/2006 Sunday
- Send them a preliminary mail
Masters of the Millennium (1996 to 2002 Batch)will be meeting for the first time after graduating from the college at Abinaya A/c Hall, Hotel Aryaas, Tirunelveli on 17th Decemeber 2006, Sunday 9:30 AM
The original meet was scheduled at 20-06-2006 that had been postponed because many guys had their exams in September and many others were busy with their (or spouse's) TNPSC counseling, and joining duty in new places.
The date has been decided as 24/12/2006 17/12/2006 Sunday. 9:30 AM to 2 PM. Since the next day is Christman, a govt holiday, it will be easy for every one to travel back Since 24th comes along with Christmas, many people asked for the date to be changed to another day.
Venue : Abinaya A/c Hall, Hotel Aryaas, Tirunelveli. We will let you know whether it will be Auditorium (we have to get permission for that from the present Dean) or Some other place like Hotel Aryaas (like our Pre Final Farewell in Feb 2000)
A Preliminary Meeting (to decide about other details) was held on 15th October will be held next week in Tirunelveli. The exact time,date and venue is not yet decided. Larif, me, Sudagar, Baalamurugan, Elayaraja, Karthikeyan are in or around Nellai. Any one else who can join, please contact 98421 11725 and let us know

- Events
- Menu for Lunch
- Arrangement for Accomodation
- Sending Invitations
- Any Games etc
Suggestion welcome. The reason for posting this also in the Alumni Association page (in addition to TvMC 96) is to get suggestions from the senior batches regarding the conduct of reunion.
Seniors who have already organised such events may please spare a couple of minutes to tell us what to do and the common pitfalls etc

Update from Dr.Srinivasa Raghavan
- More than 50 families attended the meeting from batch 80s to Millennium.
- Well done Dr. Abu bakkar( small), Ramesh Shankar, and Abu Bakkar (big).
- Minutes of previous meeting was read by Dr.Nanthakumar (Nanthu-small).
- Dance by Santosh Kumar's (86 batch) daughter was excellent.
- The football match in the evening was very entertaining too.
- There was a birthday boy in the meeting.
- Mukund (Son of Srinivasa Raghavan 87 batch) celebrated his 5th birthday.
- It was agreed that the next meeting will be arranged by Naghadev and Sivalingham (88 batch).

Good day. How are you all? Hardly we have only 10days for our meet. I hear from some of our friends that few members have not received the information about the meet. I have been sending to the email ids I have been given by previous organizers.
However, I request all of you to inform as much people as possibly you know of, and please let me know as soon as possible about your arrival for the meeting.
For those who have not received the information before, it on SATURDAY 16TH OF SEPTEMBER 2006, IN LEICESTER
In my next mail I will certainly give you the detail about the venue and programme.
Also we are keen to have some entertainment activities to keep us engaged and entertained. It will be really good if some of our kids do want to some performances such as singing, dancing, acting etc. Also let us know whether you need any special arrangements for that.

Then she specialised in community medicine.Shantha earned her M D(Preventive & Social Medicine)and D.P.H from Mumbai University. Dr Shantha Sankaranarayanan has taught many undergraduate and post graduate students in L T M M College, Sion Mumbai. She is a post graduate teacher of the Mumbai university medical faculty.She published many papers in community medicine. She was deputed to the Mumbai Districts AIDS Control Society as joint director. She became the additional director of that organisation.She represented India in the WHO regional meeting at Thailand held recently.

| Launch of Alumni Association
|
The alumni association of TVMC was formally inagurated by the DME by unveiling a board, on 25.6.2006.About fifty alumni attended the GB meeting held after the function.The GB resolved
- To continue with the interim team of office bearers till registration of members is completed to a reasonable extent.
- To register the association under the Socities act with the help of Dr.Arulrhaj & Dr.Jeyalal
- To register all old students from 65 batch till date
- To collect an one time life member fee of Rs 1000/-
- To request the managers of the website Nellai medicos .com to permit to use the existing site and to have an exclusive website for the association.

They called me "KULAM" then, year was 1965. Mr.Bakthavachalam of Congress Party was our Chief Minister, soon taken over by Mr.C.N. Annadurai of DMK.
I am Abdulkader Kulam, I belong to the first bactch of TVMC medical students, started our Ist MBBS in St.Xaviers College, Palayamkottai. It was Madras State then, we graduated under the University of Madras.
I am close to 60 years now, practicing in USA as an Anesthesiologist since I moved here to Chicago in 1976, just 4 years after my house surgency and stayed here ever since.
I passed my ECFMG in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in in 1975
In my treasure is a group photo of our very First MBBS 1965-1966 of Tirunelveli Medical College. I would love to publish it in your web pages of TVMC Alumni. Right now the picture is in pristine condition but I am afraid eventually nature will deteriorate it if I don't do something. I will try my best to upload the picture from here once if I can digitalize it.
If it fails I would like one of our Nellai Medico friends to come forward to takeover the charge. I will send it to you as long as you promise me to return it to me.

Due to the persistent efforts of Prof.Thangiah MS,Prof. of Surgery,TVMCH,the Alumni Association of this college is formally going to be inagurated by the DME,on 25.06.2006.
A decision to this effect was taken at the college council meeting on 9.6.2006.
